Biography —
Michiko Sorama is a visiting scholar at the Cofrin Logan Center for Addiction Research and Treatment. Dr. Sorama received her Ph.D. from Osaka City University, and she is currently an associate professor in the Department of Psychology at Kyoto Notre Dame University in Japan. Dr. Sorama is interested in altruism and self-control in children and adults. Specifically, her research examines developmental changes of self-control and altruism using a framework of discounting of reward (i.e., social and delay discounting) to clarify factors that contribute to an individual’s self-control and altruistic behavior. Her recent research focuses on sociality and impulsivity in children with ASD and ADHD through a quantitative analysis of their social and delay discounting. This research is funded as the promotion of joint international research by the Japan Society of Promotion Science.
